Absolute Poker is the only major U.S. online poker room to have an entire casino built in to their poker client. I've been playing at online casinos for around 5 years now and Absolute Poker's game selection is actually larger than the average online casino. - Horse Race Betting - Absolute Poker's virtual horse race betting has to be one of the coolest things in the online gambling world. There is a track around 30 minutes from my house so needless to say, I go there quite often. I'm not a pro at horse betting or anything but it seems like Absolute Poker's virtual races are easier to win at than live tracks.
- Blackjack Tournaments - Absolute Poker offers three types of Blackjack tournaments: Multi-player, Elimination and Sitngo.
- Badbeat Jackpot - While this isn't a casino related thing I thought that it fits in this section best, Absolute Poker pioneered badbeat jackpots in online poker. Right now (03/05/2010), the jackpot stands at around $135,000. They have special tables set aside for the BB Jackpot. A player named Duckdry won $118,000 yesterday so the jackpot is smaller than it normally is. If you lose a hand with 4 eights or better you will win 50% of the jackpot. If you are the player that wins the hand you'll receive 25%. Every other player at the table will win $1,000. The rest of the jackpot is split between every player that happens to be playing at a badbeat table at that time!
Absolute Poker's Card Games
Absolute Poker is the only major U.S. online poker room to have an entire casino built in to their poker client. Absolute Poker supports Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi Lo, Razz poker and HORSE poker. You will find most of the attention to the poker games is fixed on the Texas Holdem tables and with the bad beat jackpot featured you will always find plenty of traffic throughout most of the day. The jackpot tables are highlighted in red and are only available in stakes starting at $0.25/$0.50. The normal stakes start at $0.05/$0.10 and increase up to the maximum limit of $75/$150. During this review we didn’t find many games above the $10/$20 stakes. Absolute Poker takes a 5% rake which is capped at $3/hand.
Absolute Poker's Tournaments
Tournaments are provided around the clock with various re-buys, freezeouts and guarantees available. AP does host a decent supply of freerolls which typically offer a small guaranteed prize pool and are found at various times of the day. The biggest event by far in the weekly line-up is the three guarantees found on the weekend and totaling more than $350,000. The poker room provides qualifiers for each event, or you can try your luck in the weekly “Triple Header” which offers the winner a seat in all three events. Absolute Poker sends players to most major live events in addition to hosting their own multi-table tournament leaderboard, the ‘Absolute Assassins’.
Absolute Poker's Software
The software is provided by the Cake Network and offers a simple yet stable platform for users. The lobby features an easy to use navigation with all of the games categorized into tabs allowing users to quickly select the game they are looking for. In addition to this you will also find a tournament monitor located in the right hand side of the lobby. This little feature provides you with up to date information on upcoming tournaments. This little tool becomes very valuable when finding overlays on the site, which do happen frequently. Another unique feature with Cake Poker is the ability to change your screen name which can be done once every seven days, to avoid players from picking up your playing habits and tagging you.
